According to an article released by Modern Materials Handling, the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) released a free interactive tool intended to educate users on blockchain and its potential uses.
The application accessible through both computer and smartphone was released alongside a series of tutorial videos walking viewers through a blockchain simulation. A demonstration of the application can be viewed here.
As any military component is being constructed, the use of blockchain allows the tracking of each part, as well as any additional notes anyone with access to the ledger may add. Discovering where parts are constructed or sourced from is often a confusing and time-consuming process in the construction of military devices. With blockchain this complex system can be simplified and streamlined.
Blockchain is being utilized in the food, medical, and retail industries worldwide. As far as the military goes, it could mean more transparency when dealing with parts sourced from multiple regions. Given the complexity, many are often put off by the technology or simply can’t afford the time or resources needed to utilize it. With the free interactive tool introduced by the Air Force Institute of Technology, many will be able to gain a much needed insight on blockchain.
